STLR Future Ready Pilot

When Joey launched STLR, he had a clear vision as to where he wanted the company to go. But to help focus the how, he joined the Rally Social Enterprise Accelerator in Orlando FL. This experience lead to the very first paid pilot for Rally with the City of Orlando. The following is a recount of the process, the good, the bad and the future.

The before

The City Administration Center Garage had 2 issues, energy consumption and safety.

Because they needed to leave the lights on 24/7, the energy usage was through the roof.

STLR set out to create a comparison study, lumens per watt, estimated energy costs, maintenance costs and a full photometric analysis.

The City Bill

We found that the City was consuming 37,843 KWH and spending $4,250 per year on electricity and maintenance.

Producing 54,671 LBS/CO2 per year.

photometric analysis & comparison

  • Before

    Flourecent Bulbs
    Luminance Average 89Lux (8.27fc)
    Max: 174 Min: 6 Difference: 168

  • Stellar

    Distributed Lighting Platform
    Luminance Average 91Lux (8.45fc)
    Max: 93 Min: 89 Difference: 4

energy analysis and comparison.

Our distributed lighting platform clearly showed an advantage over traditional lighting methods. If we could prove our case in the real world, we knew we had a winning product.

So we did.

the pitch

Called a “No Brainer” by the City Administer, the pilot was fast tracked and we started production on the PGLx1

Delivery & installation

Working with the City gave us many insights in the inner working of a municipality. Working with new contractors, gave us just one more data set to work with and make improvements from.

The Results

Saved $3,371 in Electrical Costs @ $0.07/KWh

Ease of installation.

Prewired Light Hub, with patent pending quick connect system for the arms.

Eliminated the need for all other wiring except for power.

Lessons learned

and upgrades made!

Pre-programmed.

All the lights now come programmed to the pre-determined setting set by the client but remain customizable on-site.

Multiple Variations

PGLx1 was designed for parking structures, but we quickly were able to adapt the “core tech” and hardware components for multi use installations.

ready for the spotlight

rebranded and remarkably more efficient!

Kolumi is now Stellar

Stellar is launching with a full line of commercial lighting options for warehouses, hangars, retail stores, parking garages and more.

More Efficient with 200 Lum/W or better!

Always improving, we have achieved an industry leading 219 lumens per watt for our high bay warehouse light. And keep watching, we have a couple other photonic announcements coming soon!

our platform performed well:

We replaced just 32 fixtures, these are the 1 year results.

Saved 33,113 KWh in power consumption.

47,483 lbs/CO2, keeping the planet a little bit cleaner.
